My Etsy Store

Image
Welcome to my Etsy store  FarmHouseFare I opened my store Oct 17, 2013. I jumped in with both feet and started paddling hard. It's been a huge learning experience and a lot of fun, yet frustrating. Etsy has become like a family with so many great team mates and supporters, thank you. I will on occasion post new items but Etsy keeps me pretty busy so blogging gets put off till about never. Pop into Etsy and say Hi when you look around. I'm always adding and selling something new.  Mirrors are a favorite to make up and the cat seems to enjoy getting in my way as I take photos outside.  Shabby chic furniture is a favorite yet shipping is a bear.  Darling one of a kind find. I love this piece.  This pillow is what started it all. One of my first creations for Etsy and still a fave.  Wedding items are very popular so I have a large collection of bridal items.  That's it for now. Hope to see you soon.

Vintage Secrets Sale

Image
Here we go again!! This is a fabulous sale that happens twice a year at the Manor Grange. Take a look and I hope to see you there.

After the sale

To all who came out for our sale, Thank You! It was a lot of fun. I don't have any pictures of the days because I was to busy.  We got a kick out of the guys who came to escort their wives because they usually all stopped by the dessert counter or bought lunch. We hope to repeat the good times sometime this fall. I've been working on more finds so it will be good.  Tootles for now and I will post once we know more.

Home made chalk paint recipe.

For those of you who asked for my chalk paint recipe.  1 Cup Flat Latex Paint  2 1/2 Tbsp Plaster of Paris 1 1/2 Tbsp cool water Mix the cool water and plaster till smooth. Then add your FLAT latex paint in your favorite color. Mix well. (I used a stir stick and plastic measuring bucket from lowes). Now start painting. I would highly encourage you to apply a thin layer of chalk paint for this acts as your primer. on your furniture.  Once your last coat of paint is dry, lightly sand with 400 grit sand paper then add your soft clear wax or lacquer. I thin my wax down with a smidge of mineral spirits so the wax goes on smooth and wasy. When applying the wax, load your rag or preferably your annie sloan paint brush sparingly and work quickly to get a thin coat.  When applying the dark wax alway apply the clear wax first or the dark wax will penetrate into your paint and it'll be uneven and hard to work with. Now while applying the dark wax I prefer to go light first then darker as desi
